009 Woody Lane just about complete.

The signalman gets a breather deep in thought with hands in pockets. The signal box sign was made for me by Narrow Planet.

A Thames Trader rests with a large crate for delivery.

A tranquil time with a Morris Traveller almost on the bridge.

This is an N Gauge Peco bridge which has been heightened with some stone plasticard.

The postman in a HA Viva van- how I disliked these , pauses to collect the mail from the post box.

Must source a suitable figure for a postman!

The crossing cottage is a Bachmann product which has had some subtle weathering applied.

This just fitted the available space which saved me from scratchbuilding one to fit.

The beekeeper attends to his hives with his assistant holding the smoke cannister.

Beekeepers are becoming a theme having been seen on Hillbrow.

The Shamrock and Rambler Bedford OB slowly passes a couple of pedestrians before passing under the mineral line bridge.

The tunnel exit stage right!

Trees to the left of me and trees to the right- some of the forty odd trees present on Woody Lane.

Minerva O Gauge 0-4-0 Peckett

This is a really lovely little engine, although it does dwarf the Terrier.

Minerva supply these in black, lined Light Green and as to the left in dark, GWR, green. The relevant numberplates are supplied in etched brass.

Control is very good once you get used to the flywheel effect- again this, as the Terrier, can be run with a Gaugemaster Walkabout or equivalent controller.

Am I pleased- Oh yes!

009 Woody Lane- progress.

Well, it has been a long time coming but everything now works on Woody Lane.

A couple of minor scares, clearance on one of the tunnel mouths needs easing (smart phrase for take a knife to it).

The level  and barrow crossings needed a bit of scraping to allow smooth passage.

Other than that all runs smoothly, even the raised line.

So with the back and side boards fixed the next job is to complete the detailing and then construct the fascia/ light board.

Atlas Editions HO Tram.

I have dismantled the base of the model- just have to remove the portion to enable the KATO bogie to be fitted.

Woody Lane scenery update.

Holes have been cut and the fiddleyards for the upper level has been aligned and forced, kicking and screaming into place.

I had looked into the possibility of using revolving fiddleyards but the centre pivot would have obstructed the lower level running so was thought to be a bad thing!

So several pieces of 3mm ply later- easy to cut with a Stanley knife- and this arrangement is in place.

Will remove the backscene to lay, ballast and detail the track.

Dapol O gauge LBSCR Terrier.

This was too good to miss- I always shied away from O gauge believing, wrongly, that a beefier transformer would be needed.

However, I have been convinced that this isn't the case and indeed when testing at home found it operated perfectly with a selection of Gaugemaster  and the Morley Vector controllers in my possession.

So, another scale and another region- this time SE England.

Bachmann 00 Scale buildings.

I had been looking for some small buildings for Woody Lane.

The one on the left and below is described as a station building but will easily be converted for a rural dwelling.

This one to the right is catalogued as a farmhouse but, again, will be perfect for what I want after some judicious detailing.

For the money they are great and will save a considerable amount of time.

009 Kitbuilt Tallylyn Loco.

Another loco that has benefited from the attachment of nameplates is the GEM Dolgoch kit paired with a Neville Kent N Drive chassis.

This loco runs beautifully and now has it's own identity-Tallis.

Moors Valley Railway October 2018.

I took the opportunity to take my grandsons to MoorsValley, near Ringwood, on school half term.

Two locos were in steam- a few shots of each.

luckily it was a lovely day for late October.

Just enjoy the pictures.

009 Double Fairlie first run on Hillbrow.

The Poole Exhibition was the Double Fairlies first extended run .

The running was faultless - it does run a little faster than other locos but this was quickly mastered.

It really is something different and a couple of viewers said that they didn't realise that there was no valve gear until I told them.

Painting Scenery.

One side the papier mache applied to Woody Lane has dried so a first coat of paint to seal it all- however, the shade used is Mocca (coffee) is too light so will have to have a darker shade applied- I have some somewhere!

The signal is a non working example- it does present the opportunity to convert to manual operation in the future.

The mineral line track base in place, the rear fascia board will be removed and substituted for a slightly taller board together with the holes cut for the upper fiddle yards.

As can be seen, the colour is somewhat insipid.

I only hope that affixing the track doesn't present undue problems!

The left hand tunnel mouth wedged in place. I must add some stonework to the tunnel interior before it is cemented in place.

The station building  and mineral line bridge placed.

The platform surface has been cut around the building to provide some bedding in.

I cannot make my mind up as to whether I have overdone the weathering!

Atlas Editions HO Tram.

I found this on a well known search engine and it was speedily delivered.

It is hoped that a KATO N gauge motor bogie can be fitted to provide another passenger vehicle for one of the 009 layouts- we shall see!

Wagon loads.

I had forgotten all about these small packing cases which I bought some time ago.

Whilst waiting for some glue to dry I MEK'D them together and gave them a coat of brown paint.

They make suitable loads for some 009 wagons - the 009 society wagon below has a smaller load and the ruler shows how small these wagons are.
The Poole Exhibition is Today!
