More Trams!

A couple more Atlas Editions offerings which will negotiate Cody Streets sharp curves- one other I have is just too long.

The green one is powered by a Kato 33-105 bogie whilst the red one has a 33-103 fitted.

The bogie tram is slightly longer which needs the extra throw whilst the red trams 4 wheel unit copes well with the lesser length.

 

Cody Street Ho9 Trams at Exmoor Coast Mini Show-30th October 2021.

 For the first time this year I am attending a model railway show. I am showing Cody Street for the first time at this small friendly show at Minehead.

Ho Trams and motor bogies.

I was asked which KATO bogie was under each of my trams.

Each tram has the motorising chassis underneath.

Some were easier than others and a couple have a bogie chassis whereas the original was four wheeled. This is to enable the tram to negotiate the extremely sharp curves on Cody Street which measures 3ft x 11 inches.

 

Motorised Atlas Edition Trams-Ho scale.

 I think this is as many trams that I need.

All are KATO motorised, some with bogie chassis and some with the 4 wheel bogie. Others in the range are too long for the curves.

Except for theLisbon Tram, second from left, all are from Atlas editions. The models were all dismantled by fair means or foul, accomodation for the motor being removed by slitting disc and file.

The Rathbugr passes No 7- Petite Properties Daffodil Cottage.

The possibilities of detailing are endless and this is one layout which can be constantly added to.

Below is the latest tram conversion and at the bottom a steam tram, both from Atlas Editions and powered by KATO 11-103 mechanisms.

Petite Properties for Tram layout - Cody Road.

Just about finished with just the dummy overhead wires to fit.

The carrying posts have been fitted ready and thank goodness they centre above the tram rails- and in the centre too!

The end bridges have been made with some elderly embossed stone   card . The tram wires will just sit under the arches.

Just the road name to produce and one more tram to complete and this project is complete.

Petite Properties Station Road shop.

The final piece has been made, bar painting the roof and adding ridge tiles.

This is Jasmines Flower Pot named after my granddaughter. It has a full window display as well as detailed business signs.

These kits are a joy to put together being laser cut wood and card. Windows are also pre-printed which makes glazing so easy.

So, I should be able to add tram poles and street lighting soon with just the entry and exit points to finalise.

Tram layout- as yet unnamed.

I have made a backscene for the layout and have just about confirmed where everything will go.

The terrace has had the houses numbered, there is just the shop to complete and a few fences and gates to make.

The four trams currently available will soon number five as the bogie motorised chassis is now to hand.

Petite Properties Low Relief Harpers Yard.

The roof has been fitted. Corrugated iron this time. Light brushing with silver paint followed by dry brushing rust when dry. I do like this finish and very easy to do.
Good news! The postman has just delivered a couple of kits and roof tiles so the terrace can be finished.

Parkers Lockup from Petite Properties.

The third structure is Parkers lockup.

This will be re-named and have a side entrance protected by a substantial gate and possibly an arch.

As with all things I still have to decide on names- Layout, Street and buildings.

Made the same as the others but this time using blue engineers bricks on the ground floor.
 

Petite Properties for my Tram Micro Layout.

First up is the Terrace. This uses two kits joined together to give a terrace of six houses.

The walls are clad with brick paper from the old Builder Plus range. These, to my mind, are the best ever produced with Howard Scenics offerings a close second.

All fascia mouldings were spray painted with white undercoat and left as are because the slight discolorations from laser cutting give a nice weathered look.

Daffodil Cottage has also been covered with brick paper but I have no idea of the source.

I purchased a kit, many moons ago, which had the paper covering included. The house was rendered so the paper wasn't used.

The cottage has decorative brickwork which makes a change from  properties.

The same finish was given to the mouldings as before. However, I forgot the curtains before adhering the roof!

Petite Properties Low Relief Terraced Houses.

 Now that several exhibitions have been cancelled there is time to complete some projects.

The first will be the tram layout, still un-named, which uses several Petite Properties low relief buildings which the first is the terrace.

The mouldings have been sprayed matt white (primer) and , once dry, adhered to the brick paper covered walls.

Petite Properties 1/76th Low Relief Terraced Houses.

I have two of these which have been butted together to form a six house terrace.

These will form part of the housing on the Tram layout.

This terrace have been faced with original Builder Plus 00 gauge brick paper. This product is excellent but now getting hard to find as production ended over thirty years ago.

The lower stonework is Metcalf  'N' gauge random stone card which makes a bit of a contrast.
The windows and doors have been opened up and wrapped into the aperture before being glued in place.once I havemade all the entrance porches then it will be time to paint all relevant parts and secure in place before the backs and roofs are fitted.
