The two cattle wagons I have, one Hornby and the other Bachmann ,have an amount of detail around the coupling area.
Visiting Alton Model Centre recently I found a Dapol BR version which perfectly fitted the bill. Just removing the coupling locating screw gave a nice flat surface to fit the Sprat & Winkle coupling.
The 3mm version is being used on the wagons to be shunted- short rakes will be the norm.
A hole drilled each end enabled the wire to be slid in and secured with a spot of superglue and its all ready for service.
