Set in the era of British Railways (Southern Region) in the mid 50's to mid 60's. Mostly operated with Small tanks and tender engines.
The layout is 8ft long and was inspired by Martin Brents Arcadia published in the March 1981 Model Railways magazine.
Slightly elongated scenic area but virtually identical track layout.
Another offering from Anyscale Models is the water tank cast in resin. The detail is just right and, after painting has had some supporting legs fitted.
Not yet completed due to inaccessability of Watershoot Bay whilst readying my 009 Woody Lane.
More strengthening needs to be added before fitting but final measurement isn't possible at the moment.

The pasted newspaper has been applied to the cutting and tunnel mouth. Just have to wait for it to dry- not long in this heat I hope!
Once this part and the back scene boards are fitted it will be very basically ready to show at the Minehead Exhibition on August 6th.
A Smallbrook Studios kit of a converted Road Van is one of the first visitors. The tedious part is working out where to place the uncoupling magnets for stock distribution. The passenger stock is easy as two rakes are used and are fixed length. The goods stock- also to be in rakes is another matter as there are several differing lengths to take into account.
The Wills woodyard is fairly small compared with it's larger Ratio cousin- and a lot cheaper!
Undercoated with grey primer, the roofs and lean to have been lightly weathered with rust acrylic paint dry brushed on.
The represented wood stacks took an age to fix together and finally coated with wood coloured paint.
The wooden walkway has been produced from wood effect plastic sheet.
Greenwood products made the lazer cut Southern concrete hut and is similarly positioned to one on the Island.
An overall view of the goods yard which has had very fine scatter glued in place as the yard surface.
Cobbles were originally laid for the entrance and crane base but never extended further.
Finally the crossing to the second area of the goods yard.
Black card cut to shape , painted and then covered with flock.
The basis is a Lcut laser cut kit with a few additions including a detailed interior complete with real wood floor- of course you can't see it now so was it worth the effort? Well I know it's there and furthermore the roof would fall off during transit if not secured.
Signs are from Smiths (Etched signs) and Sankey Scenics for the others.
Maybe the drain pipes are a little heavy.
The signal box for Watershoot Bay is almost complete. The steps need attaching and the interior painted.
The kit is from LCut, their medium sized box. It bears a slight resemblance to the box at Ventnor!
I am still undecided on to whether I should fit a verandah by the access door and steps- ho hum!
The station building is a mixture of the PECO wooden kit and Wills station shelter.
Painted in Southern Railway chrome green and cream it is roughly the size I wanted to fit the available space and seems to provide a reasonable structure.
Once the signage is fitted together with a few appropriate posters/ boards it will be ready for placing.
There doesn't appear to be a main theme of IOW railway buildings. Most seem to be overly grand affairs which caused the demise of several companies and an investment which couldn't be recouped.
So- first up is a LCut medium signal box which, for the time being, has been primed in white which will make painting the windows easier.
Purely a Wills Goods Shed which may or may not be added as there seems to be a pourocity of goods Sheds on the Island- we shall see!
Also from the Wills stable is the water tower which has been mounted on a brick base.
Lastly- for today -is a Skytrex Southern Railway water crane. I actually like the simplicity of this design and, yes, there was a few on the island- sounding a bit like Alcatraz now!

The Hornby 4 wheel coaches have provided an option which has negated the need for an Autotrailer.
Several Pannier Tanks are now available plus a Collett goods for motive power.
A loading gauge and platelayers hut added by the platform headshunt.
The transfers I have used are from my stock- not going to buy more yet! The lining and lettering are both from the HMRS Pressfix range, I really wish the Woodhead range was still available!
Once the varnish had dried it was glazing time.The packaging for many household accumulations are packed in clear polystyrene so why buy sheets as this is free- my favourite price- forget Poundland.
Thus it happened that trains, once again, ran through this rural bywater on a sunny Sunday.
The track is now a pathway but is largely intact due to some excellent conservation work.
Found this in the bits box. A quick paint and its ready to be placed in St Mewans coal yard.
You may wonder why the lifebelt. Well being near the sea, the area is prone to flooding so it's better to be safe than sorry- the toilet paper is also waterproof!
