Hillbrow will be attending so please say hello if you are there.

Woody Lane-009.
Here we go again- I have decided that Woody Lane will be a terminus to fiddle yard all contained within two baseboards totalling 7ft x 16inches.
The nameboard has already been made as previously published.
So-track laying has already started with some slots made for point motors and BCB fitted for cross board connection.
The design has allowed for the layout to be operated from one end so I can operate when stored on a shelf.
Again it will be supported on trestles thus cutting down weight.

009 GVT Tram loco- number two!
As I had a second Graham Farish (Poole) 94XX chassis it seemed natural to build another GVT loco.
This one differs having a redoilcan on the left hand side.
All was going well until the chassis was fitted- it wouldn't run satisfactorily. However, I had a later Farish (China) 57XX chassis which, on checking, provided a replacement armature and brushes. The swop was made and now I have two smooth running locos.

009 Rheanus
The conversion is complete except for the name
and numberplates.
I did want to fit a brass handrail onto the tank but eyesight conspired against me so the original plastic fitment has been re-attached.
One of Monty'sfigures has been installed as crew.
A quick spray of Dulcote ensures that minor blemishes are concealed.

009 Kerr Stewart and 009 Society wagons.
Well GNU has been completed and had a coat of Testors Dulcote to seal the transfers.
Closely in attendance are the new 009 Society wagons which will be GNU's usual load.
Makes a good combination for a small layout- so must get my inspiration cap on!

Ashover Coach-009.
This coack has been made from the Meridian Models kit- purchased from Narrow Planet.
As the coach will be used on a freelance layout, it has been finished in blue with a yellow lining stripe to releive the solid side colour.
Greenwich couplings have been fitted .

Rheanus Components.
Sometimes it is a pleasant surprise to be able to dismantle a model without breaking several items.
Well, Bachmanns Rheanus is one of those models.
To the right is all separate parts removed and saved to be replaced when painting is complete.
Even the centre saddle tank handrail, which looked a little flimsy has been saved- however, this will be replaced with brass handrail and knobs.

This is the complete chassis as removed. All that will be done is to paint the cylinders before refitting.
The backhead detail has been superglued to the basic moulding- will look better when a bit of dry-brushing has been done.

Transforming Rheanus.
After running Rheanus in, it is time to convert to something more suitable- if only to replace the orange colour!
So, the loco has been reduced to its component parts- chassis, footplate and body. The body can have the cab removed but it doesn't need doing in my case.
The chimney has been removed and replaced by the 3D printed replacement by Blue Model Trains via Shapeways, the backhead has also been fitted as has the pump.
Both of the parts shown have been undercoated and the footplate painted in satin black.

The body will receive a livery of green and black- then I will see if suitable lining can be found.
By then I expect the nameplates will have arrived from Narrow Planet.

4MM LSWR Diagram 1545 Brake Van.
I have had my brake van returned having been built by Nigel- this will compliment the Road Van built from a Chivers brass kit.
This one is a Smallbrook Studios resin kit which I aquired exactly a year ago.
Painted in grey with black underframe, the transfers on a couple of sheets provide the correct numbers (for a change). Will post a picture when completed.

009 Kerr Stuart 0-4-0 GNU.
The painting has been completed- Humbrol Acrylic Maroon- 60 I think- has been used then black for the footplate, boiler etc with cream for the cab interior.
I then had to decide on the identity to be given to this, the smallest (and lightest) loco in the fleet.
Looking at some old Hornby transfers for Pullman Cars, GNU was cut from the sheet and applied as shown below. Then a couple of plastic crew were added.

009 Society wagons.
These couple of wagons are the latest offerings from the 009 Society.
For a fiver each they include the necessary wheels which, in my opinion makes both a bargain.
I put the pair together in about an hour and a half including waiting to adhesive to dry.
Both will receive a coat of grey paint before couplings are fitted.
Hope to have both at the Bournemouth Model Railway Exhibition .

Woody Lane Fascia Sign.
A couple of coats of paint and a bit of glue and the fascia sign is ready.
I am so impressed by Mike of Jurassic's lazer cut signs- even did the plaques for the recent SWOONS meeting at Ilton.

Anyscale Bedford OYD.
After a good wash and rinse the two main parts have been superglued together. This time I used Gorilla Super Glue, a gel that needs shaking before use each time.
The bar across the grille, a copper wire bent to shape has been glued into the pre-drilled holes.
The other two parts have been glued into position, the spare wheel and the flatbed body.
It just remains for a decent day to arrive so that a light grey undercoat can be applied.
This is not actually required butfor me it gives a colouring for the glass.
Below is the completed truck waiting for a coat of paint.

Lifebelts-Anyscale 4mm.
The final item on my order were these Life Belt Cabinets, complete with lifebelts, from Anyscale.
Again very clean castings of a prototype seen along canal banks even to this day.
Six wooden posts are supplied to mount upon so once attached and painted they are ready to fit- just have to create the canal wharf on Woody Lane!
