My thanks to Nigel for tolerating operating for a couple of days. The accomodation was excellent and the Saturday night walkabout-yes we have it in the UK-was shared by good friends- thanks chaps.

Weymouth Exhibition today!

Well- today is the exhibition debut of Hillbrow. If you arein the vicinity of Weymouth today or tomorrow make sure you make yourselves known.
As the clocks go back tonight you may also see us out and about for a relaxing drink this evening.

Wet day at the L&B.

 Late October saw a flying visit to the Lynton and Barnstable Railway at Woody Bay.
Theweather was foul but there was a reasonable footfall of families enjoying a windswept ride behind AXE.
I did hope to get some shots of LYN but she is out of action until new turnouts of the right radius are fitted- i've had that problem!
A quick glance was all I could get but there is alway sanother day.

Hillbrow Fiddle Yard.

This is the simple fiddle yard attached to Hillbrow- continuing the minimum space theme.
Attached with a pair of good quality brass butt hinges- obtained from a car boot sale some time ago if I remember correctly.
I have needed to remove some of the hinge on the one nearest to the control panel as a couple of the locos wouldn't pass.
A crazy track point gives a couple of storage sidings- quite enough for a layout the size of Hillbrow.

009-Been busy.

It has been a while since the last
post but during that time I have been busy.
Firstly, the holiday season saw me visit the Welsh Highland Railway and spend an interesting few hours at Porthmadoc watching trains come and go.
Then we had Westfest which was very successful- Hennock got an airing .

Several kits have been built including the PECO tram loco- named Craig. This is mounted on an aged Graham Farish 0-6-0 chassis. The kit just about fell together and with the weight the chassis performs really well.
The tipper wagons are assembled from whitemetal parts- the origin of which I do not know.
Add to this several N Gauge buildings plus preparing Hillbrow for its first exhibition outing at Weymouth in a couple of weeks and time seems to have flown by.

N Gauge Station.

I had intended to model Staverton for the N Gauge layout but that would have been too simplistic.
So after searching through prototype and signalling diagrams I came up with a single track with loop, bay and small yard. I had always wanted an overall roof a la Ashburton but didn't want an end to end layout.
This then is part of the story as the station building, both by Ratio,fits the overall roof with a little surgery. Both have been undercoated in grey so, being a stone building, a Cornish location must be decidedon.

Now an N Gauge layout.

I have been collecting some N Gauge stock for a while now so it is inevitable that a layout would follow.
This is a continuous circuit with three loops for storage. Will use wire in tube to operate the scenic points.
As shown the track is laid on 6mm ply and cork underlay- underlay from Model Railway Solutions.
The points were masked (as marked by the white patches) then sprayed with Humbrol 29 aerosol paint- will be touched in with acrylic when all dry.
The paint was scraped off of the rail tops before drying and burnished with a track rubber.
