Storage.

Storage was always a problem.
However, a visit to Home Bargains meant that several stacking boxes with removable tray were purchased for about £2.50 each. Homebase charge double this! Homebase do, however supply other, thinner storage tray type boxes for about the same- so colour co-ordination can be followed for each scale.

Forward planning.

Usually for me, forward planning means hoping things happen with the minimum of time and forethought.
Not now. I thought long and hard as to how it was all going to fit into the new workshop.
Working to my usual baseboard size of 3'6 by 16inches, a frame was built to accommodate boards of this size. The height is determined by allowing enough space for Hillbrow to fit under the baseboard. Then another shelffor storage boxes with various toolboxes-heavy- to sit on the floor.
As can be seen-it works.
The advantage is that a board can be taken off- for wiring or point fixing, without the need to dismantle the rest of the layout. Just release and pull out whichever board you need-simples.

Morley Vector Controller.

I had been looking for a controll system to save having multitudinous transformers and hand held controllers for each layout.
The Morley site answered my questions and so for just under £80 a Vector was ordered. This was delivered, neatly and securely wrapped and, most importantly ready to use. Usually it means wiring a DIN socket to the layout, wiring up a hand held controller, attaching to a transformer- but this- this is truly two wire operation to each track. It has a built in CDU so no extras to buy.
You may guess from the foregoing that I am impressed- I am and it has saved a lot in terms of both time and money.

East Boldre.

Several attempts have been made to build a 'new' East Boldre. The original 00 layout was sold some time ago but it was always my intention to build a replacement.
So with L shaped boards, track laying has commenced. Although slightly cramped- a couple of shots to show how far i've gotten.

New workshop.

I mentioned last post about my new shed.
Well, it has taken some time but it is now insulated, pannelled and carpeted.
A desk was found for a few pounds which will be the new workbench- its amazing what a few minutes with a sheet of sandpaper and a couple of coats of varnish will produce.
New shelving with colour co-ordination for each scale-the wifes idea- keeps it alltidy.
New framing for storage gives a firm base for a new layout.
So evrything in one place for a change.

Morley Controller

Haven't had a lot of time since receiving the Morley controller.
After sorting out the new shed, I thought I would have a trial with the new 00 'East Boldre'
I must say I am impressed- good slow running speeds and with a centre off it seems to be more comfortable to hold.
Seen here sat in one of the Greenwood Models Gaugemaster Walkabout holders shows how much smaller it is from its intended use.
