I use a lot of primer from Poundland. First and foremost it costs, a pound, no surprises there!
However, I was concerned that their ProDriver Grey primer was becomingunavailable from my local stores.
Before we go any further, the grey is a pretty good match for Great Western Freight Stock Grey and needs no further painting when the primer has been applied.
So, where is this going? Well I contacted Poundlands Customer relations Department to enquire if this product had been discontinued. A very prompt reply from their advisor, Jayne, told me of stock located in a local store which I visited to aquire more of my favoured primer.
A big thank you to Jayne and this restores my faith in the British retailer.
Occasional mutterings about model railways, 3mm,4mm,7mm and 009 Narrow Gauge.

Parkside 0 Gauge LMS Beer Van.
Every layout should have one of these-
I aquired this assembled but unpainted at the Calne Exhibition.
Primer/undercoat was applied and used as finished colour. The roof sprayed white.
Transfers were sought from Eileen's Emporium as they also had the other items I wanted.
The fiddly bit was getting the weight transfer onto the solebar. Once finished the whole wagon was given a coat of matt varnish to seal the transfers and then couplings were fitted.Turned out nice again!

0 Gauge Southern 0-6-0 A1X Terrier.
Doesn't everyone like Terriers? Each has a character of their own and also dont take up a lot of room when space is at a premium.

Skytrex O gauge accessories.
Over the last few shows I have seen resin castings for O Gauge.
Some may remember the 00 gauge Southern Water Crane that was described a while ago to adorn Woodlands.
Shown are three of their offerings, Acid Jars, Pipe Stack and three piece parcels load.
At present all have been primed ready for colour to be applied.

0 Gauge Skytrex SR Van.
I have been after one of these for a while, not forgetting the Parkside offering however.
The van found was devoid of markings so the transfers were part of my order to Eileen's Emporium.
Applying 0 gauge markings is so much easier than the smaller gauges I model in- andyes I have been to Specsavers (other optical retailers are available!)
The usual Spratt and Winkle couplings have been fitted so all ready for work.

A Mosquito for RAFMisarah.
I always intended to be able to alter the eras depicted on Misarah, presently the incumbent aircraft is a Hawk Trainer.
As you will have seen from previous posts various vehicles have been made for inclusion on the layout.
So an Airfix Mosquito was obtained from Cheltenham Model Centre at reasonable cost and the assembly result is shown with two halves painted silver before being finally having detailing paint applied and final assembly. More to come!

3mm scale British Railways (Southern) 0-6-0 Q1.
A long period has elapsed since my last mention of 3mm scale. I haven't been idle having slowly assembled the above model. I have used the 3mm Society square axle wheels which self quarter as do Romford/ Markits products. A bit more work to do but it looks the part so far.

Severn Models. 4mm scale buildings.
Although not a new name to me it was the first time I had seen their products- at Taunton last year.
The small building chosen comes well packaged with full instructions.
The etch is superb- individual parts are easily freed from the fret.
I decided to solder the parts together although the instructions also encourage the use of superglue.
Below are several images of the construction and primed building.

Bachmann 009 announcements 2019.
The long awaited reveals of Hornby and Bachmann have been announced.
Hornby has advanced with more Industrial motive power which, I must admit, has resulted in an advance order being placed.
Bachmann, however, has seen to progress the range of 009 products by announcing a range of RNAD stock, both motive power and rolling stock.
It is the usual thing that once you have completed a kit then someone will announce a ready to run model.
So it is with the RNAD stock announced by Bachmann. |
Both Narrow Planet and the 009 Society have released kits for this stock and my two examples are shown here.
So my wallet is taking a well earned break having not to pre-order the latest offerings!
